It’s a Job Interview, none the less important than an exam. To top your interview and crack it, preparation, grooming, caution and awareness is necessary.

Taking a job interview seriously should not only be in your mind but also should reflect in your dressing. Wearing a neat formal outfit, maintaining physical cleanliness, and carrying a positive attitude topped up with self-confidence can do wonders. Collect all the interview details from the recruiter or consultancy and research on the company’s profile and the job profile. Many at times candidates are unaware about the position they are applying for. It’s necessary to get that detail beforehand. Reach the interview venue at least 10 minutes prior to the appointment time. In these ten minutes you can freshen up and keep a calm mind. Speak politely to all the people you come in contact with, starting from the Receptionist to the HR contact person. Before entering the interview room, always knock  and ask for permission to enter. Address the interviewer by his/her last name. Keep a smiling face even though you are nervous from within. Stay graceful throughout the interview and also while leaving depart with thanks.  Offer a firm hand shake, speak with eye to eye contact, greet the interviewer “ Good Morning/ Afternoon”. Keep your ears open to the questions arrowed at you. Be keen on answering each question and do not hesitate to ask the interviewer to repeat the question in case you don’t understand. Say “Pardon” when you ask him/her to repeat. Ask questions in return when you have missed on collecting any information regarding the company or the job profile and the discussion is about it. This will show your keenness in the company and interest in the position. Sit straight and do not meddle with things like watch, hair or rings. Switch off your mobile phones before entering the interview room. Consider the interview seriously and be honest in your answers. Portray a positive attitude in your answers which would create a good impression about your attitude towards professionalism.
