The foremost step in preparing to go for an interview is getting your resume ready. A resume can make or break your fortune. It takes a lot of time in thinking what to put in into your resume when you are totally a fresher or a person with hardly any experience. Select a standardized and simple format for your resume. Fancy formats do not look appropriate for a fresher. Use a simple font preferably “Arial”. Do not use scented sheets or flashy coloured fancy fonts. All the contact information namely your phone numbers, email address and residence address should be up to date. Bifurcate your phone numbers as Primary contact number which is your residence number and cell phone number which is your personal number. Avoid using your funky named emails ids like “ shinestar23@fmail.com” or “ tomboy112likesu@fmail.com” . It’s a better thing to create a new Email Id showing some professionalism and you can use it for all your job related communications. Example: “first name_last name@fmail.com” or “last name.first name@fmail.com”. Your Id’s name will show your maturity.

Since you have nil or hardly any work experience, start your resume with a paragraph describing your personality which should include your strongest personality traits. Put the qualities that are most required for the job you are applying for in the foremost lines. If you have no working experience emphasize on your community activities, any volunteer work you must have done or highlight any special projects that you have worked upon.

List down academic achievements or awards. List your extracurricular activities of a non-volunteer nature such as sports, church or youth groups, school committees, etc. If you have a position of authority in any of these groups make note of it and describe your duties as if they were a job. Finally, put yourself in your resume by making a list of your skills, special talents, or positive personality traits. Get it printed on a plain white sheet .
